Michael Thomas Butcher, Sr.

Michael Thomas Butcher, Sr., 78, of New Braunfels, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015 in New Braunfels. Born on May 9, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Thomas Butcher and Emma Nelson.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army for four and a half years where he was a sharpshooter and a tanker. After the Army, he served the State of California as a hydrologist with USGS Water Resources.
Michael is survived by his wife, Sandra J. Butcher; his son, Michael Thomas Butcher, Jr. and his wife Beverly; step-son, Michael Hull and his wife Evelyn; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; brother, Nick Butcher; sister, Kathy Schwartz; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Oakwood Baptist Church in New Braunfels on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 10:00 am. Burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will take place on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 1:45pm with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Michael's name to the American Heart Association.
Our prayers go to Sandra and the family. Mike was one of a kind. He was a true Christian man with a heart made to help others. He is now in his perfect new heavenly body at the throne of the Lord.
