Beannacht (Blessing)
By John O’Donohue

On the day when
the weight deadens
on your shoulders
and you stumble,
may the clay dance
to balance you.

And when your eyes
freeze behind
the grey window
and the ghost of loss
gets into you,
may a flock of colours,
indigo, red, green
and azure blue,
come to awaken in you
a meadow of delight.

When the canvas frays
in the currach of thought
and a stain of ocean
blackens beneath you,
may there come across the waters
a path of yellow moonlight
to bring you safely home.

May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
may the clarity of light be yours,
may the fluency of the ocean be yours,
may the protection of the ancestors be yours.

And so may a slow
wind work these words
of love around you,
an invisible cloak
to mind your life.

***

I will forever miss you, Molly. You were the
best thing that ever happened in my life.
I Thank God for Bringing Us Together.

  1. Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep

    Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morningโ€™s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
    Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
    -Cayte Harner

  3. Dear Paul,
Sandee and I are so sorry for our loss of Molly. This has hit everyone very hard, especially you and Lucky. But, we know that Molly loved Jesus and now she is with him and not having to deal with the burdens she suffered. We will all one day be reunited in the Heavenly Realm with her and get to see her once again! Molly is forever in our hearts and you, my brother, well, we get to continue on in this journey of life together. You, me and Sandee will travel on! Molly will be watching over us and keep watch. May the Good News of the Gospel keep you, guide you and light the way! Love Jimmy and Sandee McDougald
