Monica Lynne Rodriguez, 68, of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 30, 2026. Born on December 8, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Kurt and Ethel Koegler.
Monica earned her Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) certification from St. Philip’s College and devoted her career to caring for others as a home health nurse. She balanced her professional life while lovingly raising her three children, always putting family first. Monica had a compassionate heart not only for people but also for animals, often adopting and caring for those in need.
Monica found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved cruises, visits to the casino, Diet Coke, and had an undeniable sweet tooth. Her happiest moments were spent with her two granddaughters, whom she adored and loved to spoil on birthdays and holidays. One of Monica’s greatest dreams was to travel across the United States in her new RV. She also enjoyed volunteering her time at the KLRN Auction, where she found fulfillment in giving back to her community.
Monica is survived by her loving daughters, Jessica Gonzalez and Margo Venegas; her cherished granddaughters, Alexis Gonzalez and Erilynn Venegas; and her sons-in-law, Frank Gonzalez and James Venegas.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alejandro S. Rodriguez; her son, Eric Kurt Rodriguez; her parents, Kurt and Ethel Koegler; her mother-in-law, Francis Sandoval; and her cherished Chihuahua companions, Newboo and Pebbles.

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

I was very saddened to hear about Monica’s passing. Even though we hadn’t been in close contact in recent years, I remember our connection from earlier times and her kindness and warmth.
I also have a vivid childhood memory of when she came to Germany with her family—her parents and siblings. I was about four years old, and Monica was eleven. It felt so exciting to us, meeting family from America.
Our families were closely connected through my beloved great-grandmother, the “Koegler Oma,” whom we called “Taleroma,” because after family visits she would still have dollars left over that my sister and I were allowed to play with. And my own grandmother—who sadly passed away far too early and whom I loved dearly—was Monica’s aunt.
Reading about Monica’s life, it’s clear how much she dedicated herself to caring for others—through her work, her family, and even the animals she took in. That kind of compassion leaves a lasting mark.
My heartfelt condolences go out to all of you, especially her daughters, granddaughters, and the entire family. I’m wishing you strength and comfort during this difficult time, and people around you who can support you.
With deepest sympathy
Beate and her children and grandchild
