Mr. Augustine Garcia

The Lord called Mr. Augustine "Oggie" Garcia to rest on Thursday, October 13, 2011. He passed away at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in New Braunfels at the age of 79. "Oggie" was born on September 13, 1932 in Bexar County to Jesus Garcia and Irene Bishop Garcia. Survivors include his beloved wife, Manuela Villanueva; step-daughters, Sylvia V. Mireles and Elvira Moreno; step-son, Johnny Villanueva and countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday, October 16, 2011 with a Rosary recited at 7:00 PM, all of which will take place at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will continue from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Rev. Camillo Botello, Jr., MSF, as Celebrant. All services will end at the conclusion of the Funeral Mass. Please note: There will not be a procession from the funeral home to the church on Monday morning. All wishing to attend the Funeral Mass are asked to meet at the church.

As a little girl my dad Guadalupe Perez would take me over to “My Tio” Oggies home so that I could ride on horses. We weren’t actually related but he and my father were good friends and he treated me like family too. Those were great childhood memories that I look back on fondly. To his family I would like to extend my families condolenses and I hope that God heals your hearts during this trying time. God bless you all.
