Pedro Garcia Rosales

pedro rosales

Retired Sergeant First Class Pedro (Pete) Garcia Rosales passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born on June 29, 1945, and raised in New Braunfels, Texas to Augustine and Victoria Rosales, the third of six children. He lived life to the fullest and didn’t hesitate to help anyone in need. He loved unconditionally and with his whole heart. He adored his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is deeply loved and will be missed by many.

Pete was preceded in death by his mother Victoria Garcia Rosales, his father Augustine Rosales, and his brothers Robert, Alex, Martin, Alfredo, and his daughter Yvonne.

Pete is survived by; his beautiful wife of 54 years, Geneva DeLeon Rosales; his sister MaryAnn Cruz; his children Naomi, Michael, Timothy, Brian, Peter, Jimmie, and Valerie; his grandchildren Jennifer, Kevin, Arthur, Cody, Noah, Samantha, Amanda, Margaret, Rozlynn, Ruben, Roman, Zianni, Destiny, Joseph, Dorian, Erin, Kaitlyn, Kirstien, Zachary, Jayden, Isabella, Quveon, Devin, Pete; great-grandchildren Julian, Kevin J., Isabella L., Kveanna, Avianna, Athena, Aliyah P., Destiny, Madison, Maya, Jaden, Giselle, Alizah, Arabelle, Samson, Alora, Aaliyah Q., and Bonnie; and great-great-grandkid Carter.

Pete enlisted in the United States Army in 1962 serving honorably for 22 years. He fought in the Vietnam War and subsequently went all over Europe, Asia, the U.S., and wherever the Army needed him, until his retirement as a Sergeant First Class in 1983. He was a highly decorated servicemember who served as a HAWK Missile Crew Member for 17 years and an Air Defense Artillery Short Range Gunnery Crewman for 5 years. His transition from military to civilian life saw him take on a philanthropic role of operating the Community Service Center where he helped individuals to earn their GED and take other courses for betterment and personal growth. Most would agree that his most important role was that of the patriarch to his most valued treasure, the Rosales Family.

Pete wrote, “There is a French Motto that I recall from my very first unit I was in. “NAMQUAM FRACTUM” Which means… Never Broken By Hardships or Battle. I have applied that saying to my everyday life whenever I felt down and out. I feel I have to tell my story so that my children and grandchildren will know a little past history of their father and grandfather’s Army days.”

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. A Prayer Service will be at 11:30 AM on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Lux Funeral Home and will be going in procession to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for a 1:45 PM arrival to render Army Honors.
