Ramon H. Castilleja Sr.

Ramon H. Castilleja, Sr. of New Braunfels, passed away at his home with his family by his side, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at the age of 72. Born on April 6, 1952 in San Antonio, TX, he was the son of the late Ignacio Castilleja and Beatrice Hernandez Castilleja.
Ramon is survived by his wife of 54 years, Irma C. Castilleja, who was the love of his life; daughter, Tina Romero and husband Rolando; grandchildren, Rolando, Emma, and Ximena Castilleja-Romero; sister, Irene Lopez and husband, Erasto; brother Robert Castilleja and wife Theresa; and several nieces and nephews.
Ramon was preceded in death by his father, Ignacio Castilleja; mother, Beatrice Hernandez; his son, Ramon “Casper” Castilleja, Jr.; brother, Ignacio Castilleja, Jr.
Ramon was a truck driver for over 35 years. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, whether they lost or not. He loved to fish and would take his children fishing in Corpus Christi, which will always be a treasured memory for his daughter. He felt complete when he became a grandfather, something he wasn’t sure would happen. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Ramon had many friends and extended family, and no one ever had a bad thing to say about him. Ramon and Irma loved throwing parties and having a good time with friends and family.
A viewing will take place on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Braunfels from 9:00-10:30 AM with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 10:30 AM. The Mass will take place directly after the Rosary at 11:00 AM
The family would like to thank everyone who cared for Ramon, especially Elara Hospice, the nurses who took amazing care of him, and a special thanks to the Gonzalez family, for their devoted care and love.
