Ruth Ann Schlichting Hernandez, 65, of New Braunfels, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 in New Braunfels. Born on January 26, 1949 in New Braunfels, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Ruby Schlichting. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sandra Ali and her husband Nooruddin; sister, Norma Jean Harvey and her husband, James; grandchildren, Aziz, Layla, and Rafik Ali; and her niece, Heidi Mueller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Norman Schlichting. A visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel, with a chapel service to begin at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Hill Country Memorial Gardens in New Braunfels.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Ruth. It seems like just the other day when she was an “older” fellow student at Sherwood. I am so sorry for the loss of this lifetime Comal County resident. God be with her and her family.
I am deeply sadden by the loss of Ruth, she was a great person and will live on our memories forever. Ruth was a dear close friend of mine and the family. She will always be remembered. Rest in Peace, Gone But Not Forgotten ……

I graduated with Ruth in the Canyon High class of ’67. We reconnected before our last high school reunion and had a lot of laughs and shared many stories. It was so good to see her at the reunion enjoying being with all the classmates and grinning from ear to ear. I’ll always remember her beautiful smile. What a sweet lady.
My Prayers to the Family of a friend, which is remembered often, when reminiscing the childhood days of Smithson Valley locals and school days at Sherwood. My Love and Respect for this Family runs deep and long. May she rest in Peace.
