Sam Chambers Russell
January 26, 1977 – July 25, 2024

Sam Russell, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, at his home in Startzville, Texas. Born and raised in San Antonio, Sam was the cherished child of Nell Weber and stepfather “Pops” Stephen Weber. From a young age, he displayed a vibrant spirit and a compassionate heart. Despite facing health challenges at birth, Sam grew into a strong and determined individual.

A lifelong resident of Texas, Sam developed a deep love for his state and for history. As a child he was an active member of the Children of The Republic of Texas and enjoyed playing little league baseball. Sam’s adventurous spirit led him to explore the creek near his home with his friends and brother Cody and to spend quality time with his grandparents.

After graduating from MacArthur High School, Sam pursued his passion for cooking. His culinary talents led him to work in various restaurants, including Marbella Seafood, the Melting Pot, and Olive Garden, eventually becoming a sous chef. Sam’s versatility extended beyond the kitchen, as he embraced a variety of roles throughout his life, from working at Home Depot and HEB to joining the pest control industry with Pinnacle Pest Defense. His dedication to his work and friendly demeanor earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike.

Sam’s greatest joy was his daughter, Isolde. He devoted his life to providing for her and creating a loving home. With an open-door policy, Sam welcomed Isolde’s friends and became known as “Uncle Sam.” He was a dedicated father, always ensuring Isolde had the opportunities to pursue her interests in sports, church, and friendships.

Sam was a true patriot with a generous spirit. He believed in giving back to his community and supported the Canyon Lake Community Resource Recreation Center. An avid fisherman, he found solace and excitement in casting a line, particularly in the waters of Port Aransas.

Sam will be remembered for his infectious smile, kind heart, and unwavering loyalty. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.

Sam is survived by his mother, Nell Weber; stepfather Steve Weber; brother, Cody Russell and wife Jill Hays; nephew, Ben; niece, Elissa; and beloved daughter, Isolde.

A celebration of Sam’s life will be held on August 24, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Lux Funeral Home in New Braunfels. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canyon Lake Resource & Recreation Center, 1917 FM 2673, Canyon Lake, Texas, 78133.

  2. This last month has not been the same. We are sending our condolences to all the family and friends. We are all, definitely missing him here at Pinnacle. He made our days better with his humor and presence.

  3. Sam was such a sweet man. We enjoyed several conversations together. My prayers are for his family and friends who are missing him now. Heaven is a little richer with Sam.

  4. We came to know Sam through Pinnacle Pest Control. We always looked forward to his service visits. We often discussed his being a “girl dad” as our grandaughter was near the same age as his daughter, Isolde. We will miss Sam and our talks with him. Our deepest sympathy to the family and to his family at Pinnacle.
