Susan Strong

susan strong

Susan Gail Strong, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 with her beloved family by her side. Susan was born to Wade and Ernestine Reed on November 13, 1955 in Houston, Texas.

Susan is preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Jack. She is survived by her daughter, Brittany Strong (Skyler); and the light of her life: grandchildren, Jackson, Gavin, Lainey and Londyn; sister, Kathy (Charlie, passed on); brother, Guy (Jean), Ronnie (Susie), Tim (Kitty, passed on); and sister-in-law, Cathy Dee (Terry, passed on). Susan is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends that loved her.

Susan was best known and loved because of her kind soul, positive outlook, soft words and her beautiful smile that could light up any room she entered. She and her husband Jack, were always ready to open their home to many family events with the Reeds and of course the traditional annual Strong Thanksgiving.

Susan retired from the apartment industry after 40+ years, which gave her even more time to travel, which she loved, her sense of adventure and her love of life led her on many trips both in the US and abroad. If you mentioned road trip, or any trip, she’d be ready in a heartbeat.

Susan was a long-time member of Oakwood Baptist where her and Jack spent their time volunteering and Sundays at church with family.

Her greatest joy though was the roll of “Sue Sue”, her beloved nickname from her grandsons Jackson and Gavin whom she was such a huge part of their lives. She was over the moon happy at the arrival of grand daughters Londyn and Lainey, just 12 weeks prior. Her short time with them brought her such love and joy.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM with a Service to follow at 11:30 AM. All services will conclude at Lux Funeral Home on Saturday.
