William "Bill" Vincent Moody
November 2, 1950 ~ June 14, 2016
William Vincent Moody (Bill), died peacefully in his home June 14, 2016. He was born in Woodbury, New Jersey, November 2, 1950 to W.I. and Ainslie Moody. He spent his formative years in El Paso, TX and Long Beach, CA. In 1968 he received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy. He graduated from the academy in 1972. In December of 1972 he married Janet Lubbers of Webster City, Iowa. In 1975 he obtained a Masters Degree from M.I.T. He spent 20 years serving in the navy as a line officer and an engineering duty officer. He retired from the military to Webster city, Iowa. In 2000 Bill and Janet moved to New Braunfels to be closer to his family.
He is preceded in death by his father, W.I. Moody and his granddaughter Grace Moody.
He is survived by his wife Janet, his children Vincent of Crestwood, Illinois, Katie Crosby of Papillion, Nebraska, his mother Dee Moody of New Braunfels, TX, 4 grandchildren, Will and Madeline Moody and Alexis and Collin Crosby and 2 brothers Jim Moody, Amarillo TX, David Moody, Camarilla, CA and 2 sisters, Pat Cady, League City, TX and Peg Miller, Woodbury , Minnesota.
While living in New Braunfels, Bill became a master gardener, was active in the Lindheimer native plant society, enjoyed duplicate bridge, and served on the New Braunfels Library Foundation Board. Memorial service in late July or August is pending with Lux Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations many be made to the library foundation or St. John's Episcopal church capital campaign.
As we say in the Navy “Fair winds and following seas”, CDR Bill Moody, USN (ret)…from his Naval Academy 4th Company shipmates, our heartfelt wishes go out to Jan & the family.
Our love and prayers continue for Bill and Jan and their family. We hope to leave this earth a better place, filled with short stories and memories that make us smile. Bill has done that! Claudia and I offer our love and prayers to Jan and family at this time of loss. Our USNA cruise in 2015 was a wonderful time to catch up and reflect upon many memories. To our shipmate and brother we wish peace.
