Yolanda Guerrero Rushing
November 20, 1949 ~ July 17, 2024
Yolanda Guerrero Rushing, 74, passed peacefully with the Lord on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 with her daughter and sisters by her side. Born on November 20, 1949 in New Braunfels, she was the daughter of the late Eustacio and Erlinda Guerrero.
Yolanda loved to garden, listen to music and cherished day-trips she would take with her daughter. She had a sense of wonder about her surroundings and a love for life. She was a very giving person, always ready to help those in need. She was a nurse for 35 years, but all of her patients and colleagues loved her. She was the sweetest, most caring person anyone has ever met. Love of family was paramount to Yolanda and enjoyed a close relationship with her daughter, grandchildren and siblings. She also had a deep love of God and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church until she got married and moved to Houston, though she still attended mass there when she came to visit New Braunfels.
Yolanda is survived by her daughter, LeAnn Sweet; grandchildren, Alex, Cameron Michael, and Sophia Sweet; siblings, Antonio Flores and husband Jesse, Butch Guerrero, Olga Lopez, Stacy Guerrero and wife Irma, and Diana Guerrero; and brother-in-law Alvin Rushing, who was her husband’s twin brother.
In addition to her parents, Yolanda was preceded in death by her husband, Elwyn “Mike” Michel Rushing.
The family would like to thank Hope Hospice and the Women’s Memory Care Unit at Colonial Manor for their diligent and thoughtful care.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, New Braunfels, on Wednesday, August 7th at 10am.
