Connie Marie Mercer Hollingsworth

connie hollingsworth
Connie Marie Mercer Hollingsworth Connie was born on September 9, 1954, to Robert and Mary Mercer, in Guam, USA. Growing up, Connie was blessed to have been able to experience many different cultures due to her father’s military career. This surely contributed to her sense of adventure! Connie LOVED Life! Connie loved watching sunrises and sunsets. Connie loved the beach, the mountains (just don’t get too close to the edge), the prairies, it didn’t matter because Connie found beauty everywhere she went and loved sharing it with her loved ones. Connie loved good food but was usually more interested in the “experience” when looking for a place to eat. She relished every opportunity to “gather up” with good friends and good food. If there was live music or a festival happening, Connie knew about it! If there was a chance to dance, dress in costume or admire art and a beautiful flower garden, she was there celebrating the fullness of life. Connie touched so many people’s lives. As one of her friends said, “Connie has approximately 2.5 million friends.” Many of those friends referred to her as “my Connie”. The reality is, she was “my Connie” to MANY! The messages that poured in when Connie got sick this past November were an overwhelming testament to how much she was loved and all the different life lessons we have learned from her, which we can carry with us the rest of our lives! Connie worked for Hope Hospice for 17 years and brought a level of bling and pizazz to the organization that will never be equaled. She loved her role as the Volunteer Coordinator, and she loved the volunteers! Connie had an incredible talent to place the right volunteer with each patient. She was disappointed by the rapid progression of her illness which prevented her from the many loving conversations and sweet goodbyes that she would have wanted to have with so many friends and family. Connie lived with grace and hope and faced her cancer the same way. God smiled on Connie and us when He allowed her playlist to randomly land on the song "Come to Jesus" as she took her last breath on March 25th at 3:54 a.m. Celebrate the reality of these lyrics as they were truly lived out in the sunrise of that special Saturday morning: O, and when the love spills over, And music fills the night, And when you can't contain your joy inside Dance for Jesus, Dance for Jesus, Dance for Jesus and live. And with your final heartbeat, Kiss the world goodbye, Then go in peace and laugh on glory's side. And Fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus, and Live. A celebration of Connie’s Life is being planned tentatively for April 29th from 12-4:00pm at Landa Park in New Braunfels, TX with a Butterfly Release Ceremony from 1:00-1:30PM. Donations in Connie’s honor can be made to Hope Hospice 611 N Walnut, New Braunfels, TX 78130

  2. Where do I begin? My sweet, cherished, friend who laughed, loved, and danced her way through life! So many special memories are left in my heart. I will hold them close until the day I transition from this life to the next. I’ll see her when I look at the flowers and I’ll feel her presence when the sun shines on my face. I will miss her words of wisdom and all the wonderful crazy times we shared.

  3. Connie was the sunshine to everyone’s lives she met. Even in the dept of her illness she continued to be joyful. She will be loved and missed forever.

  4. We worked together at Hope Hospice years ago! Some individuals you just never forget! Connie will always be remembered, she was always such a sunshine! Always a kind word and for sure a big hug! I will miss her dearly!

  5. O, my sister Connie. What a special sister you are. I will always remember the time you and Lauri drive down to my house and we went to the beach together. It was a Labor Day weekend and there was a 1000 people on the beach with us but to me it was just us 3. We walked the beach and laid in the sun. It was great! Afterward we at at a Mediterranean restaurant. The whole adventure was so wonderful 💗. You will be missed by all 2.5 million of us.

  6. She loved life so deeply. Her life was like a beautiful melody that lasted her entire 68 years. I was honored to be her room mate for 5 years, sharing so many wonderful moments and we made great plans and belly laughed through some amazing times. I talked her into taking dancing lessons and she danced and I watched with my 2 left feet. I loved watching her become a fairy on her feet! She will always be my beautiful Connie!!

  7. Connie & I were huge Raul Malo & the Mavericks fans! Over the years we would stand in line for hours at Gruene Hall so could get a spot in the center in front of the stage. We also enjoyed seeing Raul at the Brauntex. I met Connie in the 80’s when we both lived in Martindale & we were both walking our dogs. We became good friends & she was part of many of my family’s get togethers. We took trips to the coast together & also camped in New Mexico. Connie had a very adventurous spirit, she was vivacious & so full of life & love! We will miss Connie very much!

  8. I met Connie about 40 years ago when she worked at the TSO in San Marcos. We were fast friends and I would often times go in there just to see her and chat! She loved Pugs and brought one to my house one day. I still remember the dog lifting his leg on my buffet in the dining room. We laughed!! Then took the dog outside! Because life happens, I moved away from San Marcos years ago and haven’t seen Connie in probably 20 years, but so loved being able to “see” her through Facebook. My heart hurts that she is no longer here. But I know she is dancing in Heaven!! I am truly blessed to have known her. Rest in Peace, Sweet Connie!!

  9. Blessed Connie ! What a gal ! She loved life and life loved her back. Rugs & hugs, dear one, and thank you for your inspiration. Bill Norvell

  10. I used to dance with her in San Marcos with Midnight Breeze Dancers and it was one of the most fond memories in time to dance with her. I’m so sad to hear of her passing.
