Dorothy Jean Hicks, a resident of New Braunfels, joined the Lord at her home on Sunday, December 11, 2011. She was 59 years old. Dorothy was born to Olen B. Northam, Sr. and Annie Mae Zamzow Northam on August 23, 1952 in San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dennis Northam; and mother-in-law, Elsie Mae Coker. Survivors include her husband, James E. Hicks; children, Donna Hicks, Debra Hicks, Dennis Hicks and wife, Claudia, James Hicks, Jamie Hicks-Campos and Dorie Hicks- Winters; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters, Bettie Northam and Carol Northam; brothers, Olen Northam, Jr. and John Northam and wife, Judy. Dorothy enjoyed every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandson. She was loved by all of her family and friends and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Hill Country Memorial Gardens.

My memories of her are long conversations about ya’ll and JR doing crazy things back in the day, she was very proud of her boys (yea, even JR). Last but not least, about bingo! I have known Dorothy for many years since we met at Eckerd Drugstore years ago,she always had a smile on her face when she spoke of her family and besides her smile I always remember her warm personality showing thru and thru,even on her fingernails!She will be missed.You as her family are in my prayers.

When i got wind today of her passing, my heart dropped. I have some great memories workin and talking with her. She loved her family very much and always talked about them.
