Kerry Michael Kuentz

It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the sudden passing of the man who was a loving son, brother, cousin, friend to many, devoted husband and companion and father, Kerry Kuentz. Kerry was born Sept 24, 1954 to Marshall and Elsie Kuentz and began his life bringing joy to his loving parents and brother in an era that welcomed a unique group of people appropriately labeled as the “Baby Boomers”. Kerry was most certainly a Boomer. Baby Boomers of the 50’s love life, family, friends, their country and the challenges that came with mastering an education and joining a work force that allowed a young person to succeed through hard work and dedication. Kerry personified every facet of the highly successful people that made up this great generation. His career spanned four decades in an industry that keeps his country moving and prospering, he was a truck driver- one of the best. Driving a truck was one of Kerry’s many passions. He was tireless, working uncountable hours on the road while maintaining an enviable safety record year after year. All the while befriending other drivers from his company Kerry happily mentored all who needed his help. Many family members tried to get Kerry to look at other career opportunities and take some time off the road, but his dedication to his profession always won out. Off the road Kerry had two other major passions; his wife and lifelong companion, Sheryl Kuentz, and his self-taught ambition to become the best backyard BBQ’er in South Texas. Winning blue ribbons at many local competitions for his perfectly seasoned briskets and ribs soon became a regular reason for celebration. On the home front, Sheryl and Kerry were inseparable. They shared a love for each other and the things that made them happy together; their home, their dogs, their neighbors, their close friends, camping and the Texas Coast amongst other interesting things in their life together. So many people will miss Kerry’s zest for life and we hope you know that he loves each and every one of you. His family is grateful for the times you shared with Kerry and Sheryl and appreciates the prayers, thoughts and words of encouragement during this trying time. God has a new Angel to help move Heaven and Earth and that angel is smiling down on all of us. Kerry is preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Elsie Kuentz and is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sheryl, and his brother, Marshall “Max” Kuentz Jr (Karen), his daughter, Stacy Young, and step daughters Denise King(Kyle), Saundra Little (Steve), Suzanne Corley (Dale Pannell), four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several cousins and extended family members. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
