On October 17, 2021 a “Free Spirit” left this earth to spread his love and kindness to another world. No matter what you called him: “Marky Mark”, “Snuggi” or “Marky Poo”, if you called him Friend you were one of the lucky ones. Mark was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in Cypress, Texas. He graduated from Cy-Fair High School and after two years in The Houston Art Institute Mark broke the bonds of structure and moved to Austin to pursue his desire to create beautiful and unique Glass Work. In 2009 Mark found Austin to be “too busy” and moved to New Braunfels, Texas where he continued his glass artwork and also became a talented chef. Mark embraced New Braunfels and the many people he met and befriended there. His infectious personality, kindness and amazing talents will be missed.
Mark is survived by his Partner-In-Life, Sandi Shahan; parents, Judy and Grady Joiner as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. There will be a brief Celebration of Mark’s life at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. In honor of Mark, please dress casual. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Goldthwaite Music Festival – www.thegmf.com or to the New Braunfels Community Cat Coalition – www.nbcats.org.

Surely heaven has gained an angel but the world is a little less bright without him here. We will miss Mark.
We feel blessed we got to make memories with Mark, he will live in our hearts forever. Sending so much love to you both, he loved you so much.
Even as a young man Mark was always a special, extremely talented and creative person. He was a treasured friend to our son Heath and we know his memories will live on for many years to come in stories and the beautiful glasswork he left behind. Condolences to his family from the Green family.

I was very sad to hear the news of Mark’s passing. I met Mark thru my good friends Mike and Amanda Adrian. For the few times I was around Mark, he was always such a joy to be around and just a genuine person. Such a talented individual that had a great soul. He made me a belt buckle one year for my birthday! Every time I wear it I always thought of Joiner. I will treasure it even more and be saddened to think he is no longer with us. He was taken much too early! It was an honor to have met Joiner. He will be missed greatly and never forgotten! My heart goes out to Mark’s family. Joiners friendship was just a memorable gift in itself. If we were rolling in his CRX back in high school or catching up with all the stories of our past ventures as older fellas. We always ran into fun folks and unique strangers became friends. Like this time we walked out of a restaurant in NB and a fireman was playing bag pipes. In typical Joiner language he says to the fireman that’s a “crazy instrument”. And then the fireman plays a beautiful send off to us both.
We are so grateful to have known Mark. His true warmth and kindness emanated and will surely live on in the many lives he impacted. Rest easy buddy.

I am heartbroken. I haven’t kept in touch with Mark in years but I basically grew up skateboarding the streets with Mark and listening to Music together. Shared a lot of great times and memories with Mark.
