Ramon Gilberto Hernandez

Ramon Gilberto Hernandez, age 80, and a resident of New Braunfels, passed away Tuesday morning, April 4, 2023, at Resolute Health Hospital. Mr. Hernandez was born on September 30, 1942, in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico to the late Gilberto Hernandez and Santos Campos Hernandez. Ramon served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Mr. Hernandez attended Texas AI University and San Antonio College. In addition, he worked at the San Antonio Airport and Swearingen Aviation as a manager for the Tech Rep Department until his retirement. Ramon’s hobbies included auto mechanics, aviation systems technology and shooting pool with his family. Mr. Hernandez was preceded in death by his parents, Gilberto and Santos Hernandez and by three brothers, Antonio, Fernando and Armando Hernandez. Survivors include his daughter, Romina Hernandez; grandsons, Michael John Hernandez and Ray Martinez, Jr.; great-grandson, Cameron James Hernandez; brother, Juan Hernandez; two sisters, Regina Martinez and Maria Elvia Eureste and husband, Joe. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1390 Hanz Dr. in New Braunfels, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow in the church hall. The funeral procession will depart from the church at 1:30 PM for a 2:15 PM arrival time at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered prior to Mr. Hernandez’s interment.
