Vidal Salas, Jr.

vidal salas, jr.
Vidal Salas Jr. was born in Laredo, Texas on June 12, 1936 and passed away after battling prostate and bone cancer on November 30th, 2013 at the age of 77. He and his loving wife, Frances Salas recently celebrated their fifty first wedding anniversary. Vidal was preceded in death by his parents, Vidal Salas Sr. and Cleotilde Rodriguez. His sisters, Martha Sanchez (Ascencion) and Thelma Gonzalez (Federico). His son, Richard Salas and his wife Geralyn and two children, Ellie and Ben live in Shererville, Indiana. His daughter, Tricia Salas Bacon and her husband Scott live in Cibolo, Texas with son Zachary. Vidal passed on knowing that his granddaughters, Kira, Kelli and Amanda are 'a piece' of him and what he has taught them will always be with them. He and Fran raised their family in St. John Indiana. After retiring from Inland Steel with 34 years of service they chose to move back to Texas and settled in New Braunfels. He was fortunate to have enjoyed one last trip to Indiana to visit with his nephews, nieces, granddaughters, great grand-daughters and old friends one more time. He distinguished himself as a faithful husband and earned the honor of being called 'a brother' by his wife's five brothers and sisters. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, God father, grandpa, great- grandpa, brother, and friend (compadre) to many. Much love and many thanks to Uncle John and Aunt Saida for their help, love and support. Vidal was a Korean Veteran. A private memorial service will be held on December 14th, 2013 at 1:00 PM at their residence in New Braunfels.
