Obituary for George Wright Pilgreen

On February 24, 2018, George Pilgreen, storyteller extraordinaire, went to be with his Lord. George was born to (the late) George and Arlene Wright Pilgreen on December 22, 1932 in Humble, Texas. He was big brother to Shirley Busch (deceased), Evalyn Ellisor and Randy and Michael Pilgreen.
George attended Texas A&M and graduated from Sam Houston State. He served in the US Army stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso after which he began a long career in the auto parts business. George also worked in the oil business during which time he met and married Sylvia. Always a fan of the Aggies, George loved his God, his country and Texas. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, in his later years at Stokes’ ranch.
George is survived by his wife, Sylvia, and children and their spouses: Damon Pilgreen (Josie), Laura Jeter (Vince) and Todd Lang (Becca). His grandchildren are Nicholas Pilgreen, Genevieve (Niall) McMaster, Caleb and Colin Jeter and Tucker, Annie, Liza Lang. Jack Pilgreen and Sophie McMaster are his great-grandchildren.
A celebration of George’s remarkable life will be held on Saturday, March 3rd, at 11:00am at Oakwood Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Oakwood Baptist Church’s Building Fund.
