Darus Ethlene Leighton

Darus “Dorrie” Ethlene Leighton of Canyon Lake, TX, gained her wings on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at the age of 52. Dorrie was born on September 3,1971 in Alvin, TX to Karen Ray Wingard and Darus Dewayne Leighton.

Dorrie was a kind soul with a big heart, who always lived her life to the fullest. She loved wildlife, plants, her dog Molly, being outdoors and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family whenever she had the chance. She loved working as a caregiver and would also bartend for fun, but her favorite role was being a Mae Mae to her grandbabies.

Dorrie is preceded in death by her former husband Cody Aldrich, her mother Karen Wingard, and her second mother Earlene Leighton.

She is survived by her father Darus Leighton and his wife Judith Leighton of Rocksprings; former husband George Toner of Canyon Lake; daughter Karen Toner of San Antonio, daughter Kayla Toner and grandchildren Makylee Riffe and Cody Toner of Canyon Lake; her sisters Gladys Leighton of Goldthwaite, Katherine Toner of Round Mountain, Judith Nagel of Johnson City, Cindy Nagel of Burnet, April Tumlison and husband Todd of Rocksprings, Crystal Gomez and husband Victor Ray of Texas City; her brothers Timothy Savage and wife Deanna of Alvin, Jesse Savage and wife Kay of Goldthwaite; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is still being planned, her daughter Kayla will reach out with all the details once everything has settled.
