Dorothy Ann Babitzke, 85 departed this life August 3 2023 at her home in Canyon Lake Texas.
Dorothy was born November 10 1937 in Groom Texas to Ellis Grayden Stapp and wife Ellen Mae. The family moved to Panhandle Texas where Dorothy graduated high school but she always claimed Groom as home. She met her devoted husband Duane Babitzke her senior year on a blind date. They were married October 6 1956 in Panhandle Texas. They moved all over Texas including Groom, Panhandle, Amarillo, Lipscomb County, Canadian, Fritch, Austin, Edna, and Round Rock as well as Phoenix Arizona. Dorothy and Duane moved to Canyon Lake after his retirement.
Dorothy was an avid sports fan enjoying Professional basketball, football, and tennis. She rooted for the Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, and Dallas Cowboys. Despite her husband and granddaughter attending Texas Tech she was a life long Texas Longhorn fan. She enjoyed soap operas and classic country music. One of her favorite things was traveling with her husband and siblings to Branson Missouri. But her greatest joy was being a wife, mother and Grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, son Ricky Babitzke, sister Kathryn Reed, and Brother Ellis Stapp.
She is survived by her husband, Duane of Canyon Lake, Texas, daughter Lynette Smith and husband Mike of Leander Texas, Two granddaughters Courtney Strause and husband Adam of New Braunfels Texas and Amanda Hollingsworth and husband Mitchell of Firestone Colorado. Three great grandchildren Owen Strause, Claire Strause and Riley Hollingsworth. Also, many loved nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Canyon Lake EMS and the Comal County sheriff’s department personnel for their courtesy and professionalism and to the Canyon Lake Fire Department Station #2 for their help in taking care of Dorothy.
Visitation will be held in New Braunfels Texas at Lux Funeral Home, 1254 N. Business 35, August 9 2023 from 5 – 8 pm.
Graveside services will be held for immediate family in Edna Texas where Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her beloved son.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite organization or charity in Dorothy’s name.

Dorthy was a special lady that loved her family dearly. She will be missed by all of us. God Bless to all the family and you guys are in our thoughts and prayers.
