  1. Jim grew up across the street from me in Hamilton, Texas and was the ringleader of a bunch of little boys in East Ward School. He was 3➕Years older than I am but was my childhood hero! He was an outstanding 2A football player in high school and was very fast as he played wingback on our single wing team and was outstanding on the defense! He was all male and was a tough customer. A great story that I saw repeated several times was played by him on my brother, Jerry Miller, and I when we were little guys. We had gotten in trouble doing or not doing who knows what butMom was pissed! We knew when Dad, Pete, came home we knew we were gonna get our butts busted so when it was time we ran off and hid in a vacant lot! Up drives Pete and starts looking for us with fire in his eyes! He couldn’t find us and Jim would come over and say, “Mr Gunn I will tell you where they are for a quarter”! He would point us out and we would get our butts tanned! Dad and Jim both thought this was hilarious and Jerry and I were chastised! I know this happened 4-5 times and today it is funny thinking about it! Jim always tried to act tough and when we were in high school we would try to talk or visit with him and he would “shoot us the middle finger”! Thus his nickname became Hyme Brann the Finger Man! I will miss that rascal and am so glad he was our neighbor! Hope Little. Jim and his sisters are okay!
