Kenneth Wayne Pryor, (83), of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on June 29, 2024, due to Leukemia and complications from Dementia.

Kenneth was born and raised in San Antonio Texas.

He was the son of the late William Earl Pryor and Edna Mae Helmcamp. Kenneth attended Harlandale high school in San Antonio and began the first steps to his military career by joining ROTC.

Kenneth graduated from Trinity University with a degree in Nuclear Engineering and soon began his military career in the ARMY as an officer.

Kenneth served in the Vietnam war as a combat engineer.

He served in Korea earning multiple citations and medals. Kenneth furthered his education and career by attending and graduating from the Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth which included a Nuclear Weapons orientation course and Nuclear Chemical target analysis course.

Kenneth graduated with honors from The Naval War College in Rhode Island.

Kenneth had the honor of serving as Assistant to the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon with his final assignment being a part of the Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha

Kenneth fulfilled his obligation and duties for his country with dignity and professionalism, earning his way up to the rank of Full Colonel.

Ken married Sally Anne Glover in 1969.

They had three children, Laura, Emily, and Priscilla. Sally and the girls enjoyed a life of adventure following Ken’s military career around the globe. They were stationed in many of the states and several European Countries including Germany and Belgium. Ken especially loved photography and going on weekend trips enjoying the countryside, small towns, castles, and cathedrals.

Kenneth (Papaw) was an adored Grandfather who was fond of spending time with his grandchildren. He was extremely proud of all of them and especially loved spending Halloween and Christmas with his grandkids and setting up “slide shows” for the whole family to watch and enjoy.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Sally Pryor, his children, Laura Myers and her husband John Myers, Emily Hunter and her husband Shawn Vickers, Priscilla Pryor and her husband Victor Cariaga, his grandchildren, Hartley and his wife Naomi, Kyle, Ethan, Davis, Chase, Hope, Anthony, Grace, and Abby and his Great-grandchildren Hartley Jr., Delaney, and Janee. He is also survived by his brother Louis Pryor and his sister Priscilla Garrett.

His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio on July 17th at 10:30am (Shelter #4)
