In Loving Memory of Rosemary Zaplac Johnston

Rosemary Zaplac Johnston, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on July 3, 2023, at the age of 85 in New Braunfels, TX. She was born on July 23, 1937, in Agua Dulce, Texas, to her parents Walter Pearl and J.C. Zaplac. Rosemary led a life filled with love, joy, and devotion to her family, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be remembered.

She is survived by her sister, Jimmie Pearl Allen, and brother, J.C (Buddy) Zaplac, along with their extended families. Rosemary is also survived by her sons, Bill and Russel Johnston, and daughter-in-law, Sharlot Johnston, and their families. She was an adoring grandmother to Kyle Johnston, Tyler Johnston, Heather Johnston Cordrey, Alex Johnston, and Austin Johnston. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren, Wylie Cordrey, and Owen Johnston, who brought immeasurable joy into her life.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, her beloved son, Dale Johnston, and her brother, Billy Gene Bedford. Their memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved them.

Beyond her role as a dedicated family woman, Rosemary touched the lives of countless others with her kindness and compassion. Her warm smile and genuine interest in others created an inviting atmosphere wherever she went. Rosemary’s friends and neighbors knew her as a pillar of support and a source of comfort during difficult times. Her selflessness and unwavering support will forever be remembered.

During her life, Rosemary enjoyed many simple pleasures. She possessed a green thumb like no other, nurturing beautiful gardens filled with vibrant plants and flowers. In addition, her culinary skills were exceptional. From cinnamon toast to full Thanksgiving dinners, to her award-winning desserts, every meal she prepared was a labor of love. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and togetherness, where family and friends gathered to enjoy the delectable dishes, she lovingly created. The flavors she crafted and the aromas that filled the air were a testament to her talent and passion for cooking and family.

Rosemary Zaplac Johnston will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion will live on through her family and the countless lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held on July 13 at Oakwood Baptist Church in New Braunfels at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Hope Hospice in New Braunfels or the Tupelo Childrens Mansion in honor of Rosemary.
