Melissa Adelia Van Rite
April 4, 1954 – October 30, 2023

Melissa A. Van Rite, age 69 passed away after a brief illness on Monday, October 30, 2023, in
New Braunfels, Texas. Melissa was born in San Antonio, Texas to Letha Adelia and Daniel
Thomas Palmer, Sr. on April 4, 1954.

Melissa leaves behind her spouse, David A. Van Rite, daughters Sheana M. Anderle (Justin),
Angela S. Bramble (Tim); much adored grandchildren Jackson and Mitchell Anderle, Brynn and
Brooke Bramble; brother Daniel T. Palmer, Jr. (Gena); sisters Suzanne Taubert (Don), Deborah
McDonald, Bethany Salazar (Eli) and numerous nieces and nephews. Melissa was preceded in
death by her father Daniel T. Palmer, Sr.

July 12, 1974, Melissa married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, David. She
enjoyed family, travel, and friends, many of whom were friends from their high school years.
Melissa was an avid reader and a skilled crossword puzzle participant. She certainly enjoyed her
evening hill county sunsets.

“Leets” as David affectionately referred to her, often enjoyed short drives together, to experience
Texas small towns, their eateries and occasionally sampling the local wines and beers.
Melissa took great joy in spending time with the grandchildren, entertaining them and teaching
them the right way to live and providing the best loving environment that their “Gigi” could.
Melissa was deeply loved and will be forever missed.

A Celebration of Life honoring Melissa Van Rite will be held at Remi’s Ridge Spring Branch
